🛑 We often talk about toxic managers, but we very often forget to talk about toxic employees.

These are people who never tell you what they really think despite you encouraging communication in the team. All they care about is denigrating their manager. They’re the ones who jump on you to explain their problems to your manager or colleagues.

They complain about everything, they complain all the time, they never do their job properly, they think they’re owed everything.
They say they’ve got masters, but all you have to do is Google it and you’ve got to tell them…

When they receive a proposal, they don’t read it and summarise it for their manager, but simply pass it off as ‘the mailroom service’ that throws out the proposals as received. They feel that it’s up to their manager to do the preliminary work for which they are normally paid.

They sometimes complain that their manager (who often has 10 years more experience than they do) spends his or her time distributing tasks, debriefing their work, motivating them, congratulating them, challenging them, giving them training, evaluating them… and he or she is the one with the big salary and more benefits.

In our tropics, in 2023, there are people who can’t stand it when their manager is a woman, when their manager looks younger than they are…

Dear employees, know that what we ask you to do, your manager did it 5-10 years ago and getting you to do these operational tasks is to train you and teach you the job.

🔉If you think it’s easy to allocate tasks in order to meet deadlines, to debrief the work of teams and make sure that what’s expected of the team is completed on time and with a quality result, to motivate, congratulate, challenge, assess, punish, develop, sometimes to take knocks for your team in front of the hierarchy, to be responsible for fathers and mothers who often don’t do their job properly, wait until you’re a Manager one day and we’ll talk about it again….
